RECORD MAKERS 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS : Los Angeles, CA – 9.30.2010 + Ticket Contest

All you lucky folks in LA get ready for Record Makers’ 10th Anniversary show/party at the El Ray this Thursday, 9.30.2010 – and all you Asian Dan Twitter Heads are in luck because I have a pair of tickets to give away to this uber French event.

To win Retweet the following:
“RT To win 2 tix to @RECORDMAKERS 10th ANNIVERSARY-El Rey Theatre LA 9/30 feat. Sebastien Tellier, @iamKavinsky & More! ”

The Sept 30 El Rey show will be the occasion to showcase Record Makers’ finest talents on an exciting bill.

Sebastien Tellier will take a break from recording his highly anticipated new album to join the stage in LA for his first appearance since last summer! Who knows what he will perform? The idea of jazz versions of his repertoire with his LA friends was proposed, he might be in the mood for playing some new songs as well…

Kavinsky is also interrupting recording sessions for his debut album to play one of his funk fueled and futuristic DJ sets. He will probably play the heavy metal version of his recent hit, Nightcall, which he personally selected as the winner in a remix contest, totaling 533 entries!

Acid Washed will be performing their modern disco for the first time in California. Their superb live show visually designed by the creator of, Anthony Burrill, is gaining critical acclaim from all around the world..

Turzi’s psychedelic aesthetics may find some new fans in LA, where he will be performing for the first time as well. His show will be solo, surrounded by synchronized vintage keyboards and a mindblowing lightshow.

Sébastien Tellier x Floating Points

London’s own Floating Points adds his lofty/jazz style to Tellier’s epic tune. I just recently discovered Floating Points after hearing his tune “Love Me Like This” on one of Joy Orbison’s mixes. Subtly is where this electronic scene is going and Floating Points and Joy Orbison are right on par with that.

Sébastien Tellier – L’amour Et La Violence (Floating Points Mix)

Via Red Threat

I have been listening to this tune on constant repeat for the past two weeks, light n’ jazzy yet so simple and to the point 🙂
Floating Points – Love Me Like This (Nonsense Dub)

Check out this interview in Corduroy Magazine with Boys Noize here where he discusses the current state of affairs in the electronic/music world. Some wise words for all us music lovers and bloggers trying to live in this crazy blogosphere. “Why do we blog?” Let’s get through this blogsistential crisis together.

“We’ve gone the loudest and we’ve gone the most minimal. Everything’s been done, and it’s just important now to find the best of it and put it together again. I was always trying to not go with what is cool right now. And it’s getting harder and harder because the music is not happening in DJ and record shops only. Everyone knows the music. It’s a different time now.” – Boys Noize

If you blog it, they will come…
