Cut Copy : Let Me Show You

Cut Copy finds themselves at The Hacienda in Manchester in the early 90s channeling some new wave club vibes with their new single “let Me Show You”. These aussies find themselves lost in a sea of cycling 303s, soulful vocal samples and piano stabs, a very tasteful and nice direction for these early bloghaus kings.

Tame Impala : Apocalypse Dreams

The hazy psychedelic rockers from down under, Tame Imapla return with their first tune from their sophomore album “Lonerism” entitled “Apocalypse Dreams”. This track is an epic sunny pop rock song that reminds me of some of the contemporary psycho-delic vibes such as Dungen v(Ta De Lugnt 4 eva) mixed with Late of the Pier’s “Blueberry”. This is a great tease of their new album and glad to see they are sticking to their guns and making well written and produced rock music.

Van She : Jamaica

Van She strikes with another tune from their upcoming album entitled “Jamaica”. It is everything you expect from a song with a title like that, it is a super smooth balaeric-disco tinged pop song that slides and glides over you like warm coconut oil. There are some serious Toto/10cc vibes on this track with a touch of Lone’s warm analog synth sounds. Quite a refreshing touch to today’s pop music landscape. #sunshine

Van She : Idea of Happiness

The boys from Aussie are back in town – Van She’s first single “Idea of Happiness” off their sophomore album of the same name is a super concise synth pop song. It has warm synth sounds, hooky melodies and grandiose choruses – all things you expect from Van She. The album is out July 6 in Aus, July 9 EU/UK and July 10 in the US. Enjoy.

The Avalanches x Stereolab

The Avalanches’ “Frontier Psychiatrist” is a music video and song that has stuck with me for years. It is hard to believe that this album is already 10 years old and now due for a re-issue via the Modular Records gang. It is of course a deluxe re-issue that feature a list of impressive remixes/re-works by Jackson & His Computer Band, MF Doom, El Gunicho, and this Stereolab remix of the title track.

Asian Dan Exclusive Van She Tech Minimix + Interview

I found out through twitter that, Van She, one of my favorite Modular Records bands follows the b-log 🙂 Van She Tech was kind enough to put together an exclusive 26 min minimix for Asian Dan that showcases their ability to move hearts, minds, and feet. Nick also answered a few questions about Van She’s musical history, revealing that Hall & Oates’ “Private Eyes” is one of their favorite dance tracks. Anyone who says that understands music the true meaning of music in my mind.

Eine Kleine Nacht Musik

Rondo Veneziano’s “La Serenissima” has made quite an impression on the electronic music community within the past year. Justice dropped this track in their famous Xmas Mix, Daft Punk featured this track as one of their favorite dance tracks, Cazals used this track as their entrance music during their Daft Punk Japan tour and The Bloody Beetroots tapped into their Italian roots with their own cover, “We Are from Venice”. Now Eine Kleine Nacht Musik aka Riton has tapped into this amazing track with his own rendition, adding a few Kraut elements to it. I definitely feel this version more than the Bloody Beetroots one (Sorry Bob!). But of course nothing beats the original 🙂 Checkout his myspace for more Krautrocked-out tunes.
