Who is Miike Snow? There are so many remixes of them by big names such as Crookers and DJ Mehdi and, them remixing the likes of Vampire Weekend and Peter, Bjorn & John. But who is this Miike Snow that appeared out of nowhere. He is not a singular person but a trio of pop music gurus, Swedish musicians Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg formed Miike Snow with American Andrew Wyatt in 2007. Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg who also go by the moniker “Bloodshy & Avant” a Grammy award winning duo most notable for a little tune they wrote for a Miss Britney Spears called “Toxic” as well as working with Kylie Minogue and Jennifer Lopez. Andrew Wyatt is the in house producer at Downtown Records also the front man of Fires of Rome. In my opinion Miike Snow is a more polished and perfected version of Passion Pit, I mean look at their resume as songwriters, they are quite the seasoned musical veterans. I love the album and it definitely will be part of my Summer ’09 Soundtrack.

I love the Crookers remix of this track but this version of “Animal” is part Paul Simon and Peter Gabriel with some indietastic elements of Vampire Weekend. A chilled out summer tune.

I fell in love with this tune after first listen, “Silvia” is a sentimental tearjerker of a tune, perfectly constructed and engineered to move your heart. Miike Snow understands that every great band has to have a song with a girl’s name in it. A salute to “Roxanne”, “Alison”, “Michelle”, and “Peg”.
