Sébastien Tellier x Midnight Juggernauts

Sébastien Tellier – Divine (Midnight Juggernauts Remix)

Sébastien Tellier is releasing his Divine single in May in Europe. Here is one remix from the Midnight Juggernauts, another Franco x Oceanian collaboration. Sébastien Tellier’s fellow frenchman, Danger also remixes this fantastic pop tune into a dark, epic, Danger-esque track, so look out for that. Hopefully Mr. Tellier will win the Eurovision contest. Viva Le France!

Midnight Juggernauts x David Rubato

I’ve been waiting for this remix for quite a while. I love that David Rubato uses all real instruments like real bass and some really great sounding drum samples along with old school analog synths like on his track Circuit. David Rubato tastefully remixes Shadows by adding some vocoder and beefing up the bass part while still retaining the original vibe of the Juggernauts’ track.

Alan Braxe wants to be Timbaland.

This sounds like a badass version of Timbaland’s “The Way I Are”. This is off the new Kitsune 5 Compilation.

Justice @ Terminal 5 – 10.20.2007

This epic night began with a surprise crowd warm-up set by the one and only Busy P. Highlights of his set include, SebastiAn’s H.A.L., Kraftwerk, and The White Stripe’s Icky Thump. The Midnight Juggernauts took the stage next and blew me away. They brought an epic rock vibe that could not be captured on their album, Dystopia. They had seamless transitions between their songs that included a cover of Justice’s Waters of Nazareth. They closed with an unreleased track called Blitzkrieg that reminded me of Giorgio Moroder meets King Crimson/Yes. Justice took the stage and ceased to amaze. Their set included heavy remixes of their repotoire that weaved in and out of each other. Phantom I & II and Stress were highlights for me. We are Your Friends ended with a Metallica sample that set the crowd off. For an encore they closed with Metallica’s Master of Puppets. The crowd continued to sing We are Your Friends for a good 5 mins until Gaspard and Xavier emerged on the balcony, Xavier climbed on the banister until Busy P came out to rescue him. I spotted Kanye on the side with So-Me taking photos with his camera phone and I was expecting him to bum rush the stage and steal the spotlight but he showed restraint and hid behind a pole most of the show. I missed out on Erol Alkan at Studio B after the show which sucks cause at 3 am Xavier made an appearance and spun for til 5 🙁

Revolte

REVOLTE Myspace

Revolte is yet another French electro producer who is more along the experimental side of this French electronic revival. He is in the company of Danger and Jackson & His Computer Band. Revolte has a very similar “sound collage” style as Jackson & His Computer Band with non-linear song structures and glitchy/noisey samples. Revolte actually collaborated with Danger on a track that is featured on Danger’s Myspace.

Here is some of that classic distorted French Touch that we all know and love courtsey of Justice.
Revolte- Flash Gordon Comes Back
This track is hats off to the original French Touch producers such as Alan Braxe and early Daft Punk.
Revolte – Chemical Passion

Here is another Danger track that I really love:
Danger – 14H54

Here is a great remix of our favorite iPod commercial song by Van She a great Austrailian electro band. Props to the whole electro scene down under especially Midnight Juggernauts who I shall be seeing with Justice Oct 20 in NYC. woot!

Led Zeppelin didn’t write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.

Sceanrio Rock – Both Gotta Move On (SebastiAn Remix)

SebastiAn and Para One are 2 of the new french touch artists that will be making some great tracks in the future and will definitely be making a name for themselves. Para One can be the next Aphex Twin but hipper. Para One has just finished scoring NAISSANCE DES PIEUVRES which showcases a more intellectual and introspective side to his music.

NAISSANCE DES PIEUVRES

On the other side of the world, down under the Midnight Juggernauts are creating a new sound of shoegaze cinematic disco funk, just think if Alan Braxe & Kevin Shields decided to start an epic synth rock band in the 70s. Midnight Juggerenauts are a Justice fav and are opening up for them on their upcoming US tour. I’ll be at their show on Oct 20 in NYC.

Midnight Juggernauts – Shadows

Giorgio Moroder would love David Rubato, a Frenchmen classical trained in jazz piano who decided to start making dance music. This track “Circuit” is a live recording which is very unorthodox for a dance track these days. Notice the great slap bass. Funky. David Rubato is treating and manipulating all the sounds in real time. David Rubato is releasing a 12″ Single of “Circuit” that includes sheet music so that you can all play along and cover this tune. Check out his myspace where he posted some new tracks.
