Emil finally found some friends, Phoenix the band of Summer ’09 and the late, great Michael Jackson. This is a cover/remix/re-vision/mash-up by the Todd Rundgren of the Blogosphere that proves what an immense talent he is. Emil turns these tunes into a New Edition sounding feel good track for the summer. Love the guitar solo towards the end. I visited this digital garage rocker’s studio last week and heard some new tunes and all I can say is I am excited for everyone for an Emil & Friends album 🙂
Amazing track by the Brooklyn duo. And it seems they have been working with Arthur Baker as seen in the photo above. As well as Michael McDonald according to their personal blog! Oh my god I cannot wait for more music.
“Known for their 2008 hit “Hold On,” remixes for the likes of Moby, MGMT, Phoenix and Cut Copy, critically-heralded Brooklyn duo Holy Ghost! is Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel. Friends since childhood, the pair grew up on NYC’s Upper West Side. Learning from NYC producers The DFA (aka James Murphy & Tim Goldsworthy), Holy Ghost! bring their love for old-school synthesizers to their new single, “I Will Come Back,” a five and a half-minute dance floor epic, featuring the angelic voices of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. This latest Green Label Sound single will also be featured on Holy Ghost!’s highly-anticipated debut album due out early next year on DFA Records.”
Bonus “can’t escape Michael Jackson’s amazing pop culture influence” track:

I am really feeling this new track by Estelle featuring Kanye, it is very French disco sounding. Notice the track gets filtered out during the verse and the bassline is so slick. Estelle sounds a bit like Donna Summer on this and Kanye does his thing as usual, he kind of sounds British. Cheers.
“The forthcoming album is rumoured to feature production from the likes of Will.I.Am, Wyclef Jean, Mark Ronson, Cee-lo, Swizz Beatz and John Legend.”
o0o0o Exciting.
Rihanna x Ed Banger x So Me x The Cobra Snake
So I just heard this song on the radio the other day and was really impressed by it especially the sample that she uses that sounded to familiar to me, it was of course Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Something”. I then found out that Michael Jackson took that hook from a 1973 track by Afrique, “Soul Makossa”, even copied bassline. Either way I love how the Rihanna track gets filtered out during the verse. French Filter House is everywhere!!
This is an interesting remix to say the least. It sounds like Kanye just called Timbaland in for some help with his kick drum samples. This track had so much potential. I guess thats what happens when you try to mess with something that is already amazing. Sorry Kanye, I guess you can only do it once with Daft Punk but that was just luck.
First it was Cat Power performing at the Chanel fashion show in Paris, now Daft Punk spinning a mini-mix at the recent Louis Vuitton Paris show. Of course Mr. West was there.
Daft Punk spins a concise version of their live set from the past tour with a few awesome tracks mixed in like, the new SebastiAn remix of the Guy-Manuel Homem Christo produced track, Sexual Sportswear by Sebastien Tellier, Ratatat-Lex & Kanye West-Stronger.
