I never understood the appeal of Yeasayer and just saw them as some Brooklyn, vanity music/hipster band. A little too weird in that hippie way for me. And then a friend suggested I check out Ambling Alp – a well crafted pop tune that I have been listening to on repeat since Twenty-Ten began. Their next single “O.N.E.” they are giving away for free on their website, yeasayer.net – it is a happy-go-lucky synth pop tune that is my 2nd fav on the album Odd Blood. I can no longer sip on my haterade and can only appreciate this undeniable pop.

Thieves Like Us obviously took their name from the New Order tune with the same name. And this new single “Never Known Love” shows that they really want to be them which is something I feel every band should do. I’m a big fan of the bassline on this track.

Kingdom is leading Fool’s Gold’s foray into the weirder, less banger, experimental side of electronic/dance. I have been listening and loving Kingdom’s remixes of Kid Sister and Marcus Price & Carli for the past month. I am a big fan of his nod to classic house, 2-Step, garage and just straight up bass. And what better way of paying homage than by getting Todd Edwards to remix your track. Check out the original version of “Mindreader” below and give the Fabric mix a listen to checkout the various genres of the darker side of electronic that Kingdom straddles between.

A-Trak works his Canadian electro magic transforming a David Guetta tune “Toyfriend” into a swagger tune by mashing/remixing it up with a fellow Canuck, Drake and Birdman’s tune “Money 2 Blow”. And of course it is only appropriate to rename the tune “Loonies to Blow”.
Eh?!
Off of Dirty South Dance Vol.2 coming in March!

What a clash of the titans,Breakbot & Siriusmo – this remixes sounds nothing like either have produced before. A guitar based remix of a very soulful sounding track by the might Breakbot. These two should start a band or something with their immense talent. I feel that La Funk Mob will work wonders on this track with the tracks soulful vox – Zdar will strike again!
Fuck da bangers!

GLOVES basslines keep getting better and better. He blew me away with that Miami Horror remix and now he strikes back with some more Aussie on Aussie action by remixing Matt Van Schie’s “Saturday Night”. I need to make my way down to Oceania immediately to experience this amazing music scene first hand.

Just found this B-side/Bonus track off of Miike Snow’s fantastic self-titled album – I can see why it didn’t make the cut but it definitely showcases that the Miike Snow trio can produce any type of song in any genre.

Michna “remixes” – more edits, Joy Orbison’s “BRKLN CLLN” turning it to more of a straightforward, 4 on the floor crowd pleaser. Go Brooklyn, Go Brooklyn, Go.

“Here is a new cool producer that is known under the name of MillionYoung. I discovered him a few weeks ago, and I just want to say that I was really impressed by his music and his artwork aswell. Mike «Million Young» Diaz already released a free album entitled Sunndreamm which is must-have. His brand new EP «Be So True» came out through Arcade Sound and can be found here.” – pArSIAN SAM
Sam turned me onto this songwriter/producer from Florida, MillionYoung – definitely a refreshing sound to the chillwave landscape. I especially love this tune “Hammock” which reminds me of The Durutti Column with a little more kick.

What does David Byrne, Fatboy Slim and Filipino shoe goddess Imelda Marcos have in common? Absolutely nothing, which is why Byrne and Mr. Cook collaborated to create this concept album “Here Love Lies” about the Iron Butterfly, Imelda. Byrne and Slim enlist Santigold to help tell the story of Imelda on this track “Please Don’t”. For more info on the concept album click here.
