Justice vs. Soulwax – Disco Sirens

This new track premiered tonight on Annie Mac’s Mash Up on Radio 1. This tune has a very classic rave feel with the magic touch of Justice and Soulwax. This is a track from Midfield General’s upcoming album General Disarray. Midfield General took on the Executive Producer role for Justice’s single D.A.N.C.E. and in return Xavier De Rosnay helped produce the forthcoming single Disco Sirens.

“DJ Annie Mac premiered a track called ‘Disco Sirens’ by Midfield General. She called it ‘Justice vs Soulwax’, which is a bit confusing. In fact Xavier from Justice produced the track and David Dewaele (of Soulwax) has mixed it.” (Via Soulwax.info)

The Martinez Brothers

The Martinez Brothers are two brothers from the Bronx that are only 15 and 18 years old. But somehow they are producing music that sounds nothing like anyone else their age.

“It’s not our fault we were born after the Garage closed!” Ha! Larry Levan would be proud of these guys. Check out this track that sounds like something Jeff Mills would produce.

The Stills x Holy Fuck x SXSW x Rachel Ray

“Join us at this merging of great food and even better music with performances by Autovaughn, The Ravonettes, The Cringe, Scissors For Lefty, The Stills, and Holy Fuck. DJ Efren ‘Pedro’ Ramirez from Napoleon Dynamite will be DJ-ing inside.”
Idolator

So Battles turned down Rachel Ray, too bad but The Stills have jumped onto the roster. Check out this vid of them rocking out. I can’t wait for their new album.

A preview to a new epic tune by The Stills o0o0o!!!

These New Puritans x The Loving Hand (Tim Goldsworth of DFA)

These New Puritans – Navigate, Navigate (The Loving Hand Remix)

Hedi Slimane designed Daft Punk’s costumes, is approved by Kanye, approves the Cazals, and now approves These New Puritans. I think Hedi Slimane is on to something.

The epic “Navigate, Navigate” highlights the artistic ambition and raw talent of the young band whose rich and disparate influences range from the sound of early 80’s industrial music to numerology, from This Heat to Dubsteb, and from J. Dilla to the films of David Lynch. The track begins with an unassuming sound collage of ambient electronics and feedback drones, which quickly fade out to make way for an urgent drum beat accompanied by brash guitar stabs and Jack’s dislocated vocal musings. Over the course of 15 minutes the track is an ever-mutating blur of layered vocal chants, taut rhythms and subtle details. A track of such stature had to be given an entire side on this, the band’s debut North American 12” release.

On the flip side is a club ready remix by Tim Goldsworthy under The Loving Hand moniker. Tim Goldworthy is part of the heralded DFA production team who have worked with and remixed artists such as The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip and more.

Cazals x NT89 *Exclusive*

Cazals – Somebody, Somewhere (NT89 Woarr Mix) (Asian Dan Server)
Cazals – Somebody, Somewhere (NT89 Woarr Mix) (ZSHARE LINK)

Here is a description from NT89 himself explaining his production process:

Kitsune & Daniel from Cazals sent me the stems about 2 weeks ago, after that, i started this important remix, trying to make something of original, different and alternative. I used the vocals and guitar impulses mounted on a sampler, totally recomposed and added over a distorted synth, it took me about a week just for the impulse extraction and for the whole set-up of that synth sound. The Drum & Bass section is pretty special too, it rounds 360° in the small feedback (Took the idea from the Boys Noize Remix of Snoop Dogg), it sounds amazing on a huge soundsystem.

The Return of Donna Summer

Donna Summer – Dim All The Lights

Donna Summer Returns – Drowned in Sound

“My dream is that when people hear the music it will remind them of their youth,” explains Summer, “their childhood and the joy and wonderment they felt exploring their first pack of crayons.”

A number of collaborators have been roped in for what will be presumably be production duties on the album, including Danielle Brisebois, (The New Radicals), Greg Kurstin, (Lily Allen, Mutya, Peaches), JR Rotem, (The Game, Snoop Dogg) Lester Mendez, (Shakira, Nelly Furtado) and another called Evan Bogart who DiS has never heard of, but sure is impressed with his name.

The album will come out through Sony BMG imprint Burgundy Records on May 20th, and is the first new material since Mistaken Identity was released in 1991.

WHY ISN’T GIORGIO MORODER LISTED?! I hope he makes a surprise appearance. Justice will probably remix a track off the album.

Pivot!

Pivot! is the newest addition to the Warp Records family. I feel like they are trying to be the Battles of 2008 (They did open for them in Australia) but I think that is just because of this pic with all their crazy equipment. Their new songs on Myspace remind me of Fugazi covering Warp Records artists.

This is an old track of theirs which has an Album Leaf vibe to it.
